Anita Lerek is founder, president and general counsel of
Advocate Placement Ltd. She was called to the Ontario
Bar in 1981. She was in private practice until 1991,
specializing in employment and trademark law. Prior to
becoming a lawyer, Anita worked as a community college
teacher, a book editor, and a literary agent. She has an
M.A. in Sociology from the University of Toronto. In
1986 she helped found Advocate Placement Ltd, a
lawyers-only human resources service specializing in
consulting and lawyer recruitment, contract, permanent
and merger, throughout Canada. Since 1991 she has worked
exclusively for Advocate Placement, dedicating herself
to
the goal of helping lawyers achieve the best possible
workplace fit. ‘Know thyself’ is her firmly held value
for individual and workplace fit. |

Anita is past chair of the Canadian Bar Association
(Ontario) Law Practice Management Section, and has been on the
executive of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association,
Toronto Chapter. She has taught the Practice Management
and Professional Responsibility course in the Bar
Admissions Program (Ontario). Anita is a speaker on
numerous panels and workshops relating to lawyer
marketing, human resources, and career management. She
has a special interest in and gives priority to,
candidate advocacy. Anita has a strong attachment to history, especially
holocaust studies. She is a published short story
writer, and an art lover. Poetry and jazz are very close
to her heart. She strives to maintain her own passion for
the arts, and encourages you to follow your passions too
in order to strike a fulfilling balance.
Anita is married to an archivist, and has a child who is
suddenly an adult and a graduate of McGill University.
